Women in Medicine Advice Contest 2023 – Official Rules and Contest Terms

Op-Med is a collection of original essays contributed by Doximity members.

  1. Eligibility. The Contest is open to all legal residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older and who are registered Doximity members as of the beginning of the Contest Period (defined below). Employees of Doximity or its affiliates, and their immediate family members (children, parents, siblings and spouses) and members of such employees’ households are not eligible to participate in the Contest. Participation in the Contest constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to, and acceptance of, these Contest Rules (“Rules”) and the decisions of Doximity, which are final and binding in all respects. Entrants who violate these Rules are subject to disqualification from participation in the Contest. 
  2. Contest Period. The Contest starts on June 16, 2023 at 11:59 PM PT and ends on August 18, 2023 at 11:59 PM PT (the "Contest Period"). All entries must be received during the Contest Period to be eligible for the Contest. Any entries received outside the Contest Period will be disqualified. 
  3. How to Enter. Write a 600-1000 word essay  about the superpower you have as a woman in medicine and how it’s helped you be a better doctor and submit to us via email at opmed@doximity.com (“Submission”). Only one Submission per Doximity member will be considered for Contest entry. Doximity is not responsible for lost, late, delayed, incomplete, misdirected, or undelivered Submissions, or network, computer, hardware, software or transmission malfunctions, failures or errors of any kind. Incomplete or illegible entries will be voided. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win the Contest. 
  4. Prize. One (1) $100 Amazon.com Gift Card*, your win published on Doximity's Op-Med, and an original illustration to accompany the essay as published on Doximity. Winners may not substitute, assign, or transfer a prize, but Doximity reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to substitute a prize (or portion thereof) of comparable or greater value. Winners are solely responsible for all federal, state, and local taxes and any other costs associated with prize acceptance and use. By accepting the prize, the winner consents to Doximity using their name, likeness, profile, and prize information for promotional purposes (including announcing the winner’s name on Doximity) without additional compensation, notice or approval, subject to applicable law. 
  5. Selection and Notification of Winner. Doximity’s editorial team will evaluate Submissions based on overall quality, creativity, and how well they illustrate the theme of the Contest, and then selecta winner accordingly. The winner will be notified by email after the Contest Period has ended and must respond to email notification within the period specified therein. Winners may be required to complete and return to Doximity a release and affidavit of eligibility within the specified time period. The winner’s failure to acknowledge receipt of notification of having won the Contest, or failure to timely execute and return the required documents may result in forfeiture of the prize, and Doximity reserves the right to select an alternative winner in such circumstances. 
  6. Grant of Rights. By entering the Contest, entrants grant Doximity a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive license to use, reproduce, adapt, publish, and display their Submissions (and portions thereof) on any Doximity property or in any other media, now known or hereafter devised, throughout the world, for any purpose including, but not limited to promotional, advertising, and/or marketing purposes without further compensation, notice, or approval. 
  7. Representations and Warranties. By entering the Contest, each entrant represents and warrants that their Submission is their original work and does not infringe any copyright, trademark, property right, right of privacy, or publicity, or any other right of any third party, and that they have the full and unrestricted right to grant to Doximity the foregoing license free and clear of any claims or encumbrances. By entering the Contest, entrants waive any expectations of privacy they may have with respect to their Submission.
  8. Disclaimer. By entering the Contest, entrants agree that Doximity, its affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, and agents will have no liability whatsoever, and will be held harmless by entrants for any liability for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind to person and property resulting in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from participation in the Contest and Doximity’s use of their Submissions, as described above. In no event will Doximity be liable for any direct, special, incidental, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with an entrant’s participation in the Contest, whether such liability arises from a claim based upon contract, warranty, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or otherwise, and whether or not Doximity has been advised of the possibility of such loss or damage. 
  9. Personal Information. Personal information collected in connection with participation in the Contest is subject to the Doximity Privacy Policy (www.doximity.com/clinicians/privacy). 
  10. Sponsor. The Sponsor of the Contest is Doximity, Inc., located at 500 3rd Street, Suite 510, San Francisco, CA 94107.
  11. Miscellaneous. The Contest is subject to these Rules and all applicable federal, state, and local laws, and regulations and is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Any dispute arising out of the Contest will be determined according to the laws of the State of California, without reference to its conflict of law principles, and by participating in the Contest, entrants consent to the personal jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in San Francisco County and agree that such courts have exclusive jurisdiction over all such disputes. Doximity reserves the right to modify or cancel the Contest (including these Rules) at any time without notice. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries. You may obtain a list of winners by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope (postage not required for Vermont residents) to Doximity at 500 3rd Street, Suite 510, San Francisco, CA 94107 and requesting the list.
