Contest: Women in Medicine, What Moment Transformed You as a Physician?

Op-Med is a collection of original essays contributed by Doximity members.

Women physicians, we want to hear from you! Doximity is hosting our fourth annual writing contest for women in medicine and we are looking for submissions about a moment that transformed you as a physician.

What to Write About

Medicine is full of defining moments — some expected, others completely unforeseen. Think about a time when an experience changed the way you practiced, thought, or approached your work. It might have been a difficult situation, but it ultimately helped you grow in ways you couldn’t have imagined. Perhaps a patient outcome didn’t go as planned, but led you to develop a new approach to communication or procedural skills. Did competing demands at work and at home lead to a shift about how you think about and approach balancing? Maybe you realized family planning would impact your career plans more than you thought, or a personal health crisis or family challenge deepened your empathy for patients navigating illness. Who were you before this moment, and who were you after?

What You Win

Winners and select submissions will also receive an original illustration or animation by Doximity's Illustration Team to accompany their piece when published. The winner will also receive a $100 Amazon gift card.
