AACE 2025 Promises to Be an Enriching Experience

The American Association of Clinical Endocrinology (AACE) brings together a worldwide community of more than 5,700 endocrine-focused clinical members and over 28,000 healthcare professionals, all committed to advancing the field of endocrinology. Every year, the AACE Annual Meeting is a premier live event to foster collaboration, share clinical discoveries, and ignite new ideas in patient care.

The 2025 AACE meeting promises to be an especially enriching experience, offering over 75 thought-provoking sessions across a dynamic three-day program. The theme for this year’s conference, Endocrine Innovation & Obesity Breakthroughs, couldn't be more timely. With the obesity epidemic surging and metabolic diseases reshaping healthcare priorities worldwide, we urgently need new strategies, new conversations, and real-world solutions.

A major highlight will be Dr. Daniel Drucker's keynote address, which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first GLP-1 receptor agonist approval, a milestone that transformed the treatment landscape for type 2 diabetes and obesity. The meeting will also feature sessions where leading experts will discuss innovative approaches to metabolic disorders and obesity, focusing on real-world solutions to improve outcomes and promote equity.

One session I am excited about is "Continuing or Discontinuing Anti-Obesity Medications Post-Bariatric Surgery." For years, the standard was to stop pharmacotherapy after surgery. But now, with the evolution of highly effective anti-obesity medications, many experts are rethinking that approach. Should we continue medications to support longer-term success? What are the risks of discontinuation? Expect a lively, evidence-driven debate that could shift how we manage these patients moving forward.

New to the AACE lineup this year is the inspiring "Turning the Tide: Real-Life Success in Chronic Disease Management" symposium. Here, clinicians will step out of the abstract and share real stories, real patients, real challenges, and real wins. It's a refreshing reminder of why we do what we do. There's also the launch of the new Global Forum, celebrating the diversity within the AACE community and tackling pressing clinical topics that matter on a global scale.

Beyond these signature sessions, the meeting will cover a wide range of essential endocrine topics, including advances in diabetes management and technology, MASLD (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease) and MASH (Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis), thyroid disorders—including nodules and cancer—adrenal problems, bone disorders, and emerging tools like generative AI for educators.

The AACE Annual Meeting is more than a conference. It combines ideas, innovations, and inspiration. Whether you want to deepen your clinical expertise, network with peers, or stay ahead of transformative trends, this year's meeting offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with the future of endocrinology.
