What inspired this piece?

The naming of Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy.

Why did you choose visual art as a form?

Seldom can you convey multiple concepts seamlessly in a singular piece. Visually you can appreciate the similarities between vastly different phenomena, while also simultaneously appreciating a unifying biological theme.

How long have you been creating visual and digital art?

I began experimenting with digital paintings for the past year and a half. The medical theme was born out of a desire to convey a beauty behind the vast complexity of the human body through sketches and paintings.

Mohammed Ahmed is a fourth-year medical student at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine in Royal Oak, MI. He will be starting residency in internal medicine in the summer.
