Disclaimer: Doximity is not an affiliate of drawMD and does not receive any compensation for this review.

Summary of app features: drawMD is a tool to help explain diagnoses and procedures to patients using visuals. The app provides visual graphics for different specialties that users can draw or add text over. Clinicians can send or print out the slideshows they make so their patients have easy access to them. The graphics used in the app were designed by clinicians, so they are as relevant and useful as possible for each specialty.

This app is useful for: any physician delivering diagnoses or explaining procedures to their patients. drawMD has graphics for many specialties, such as cardiology, family practice, anesthesiology, OB/GYN, general surgery, and more.

Good User Review: “I have become so reliant on this app that I truly struggle explaining complex diagnoses and surgeries to my patients without it. Patients instantly respond to the illustrations with an "Ahhh, now I get it," and I can't count how often I hear from new patients "I've been dealing with this for years, and this is the first time I really understand what is going on." — TN MD on the App Store

Limitations: This app has some physical functionality limitations, as it is difficult to edit images on smaller screens. The interface is easier to use on desktop or a tablet. In addition, there are some features and graphics that are limited to subscription buyers.

Alternatives: There are other apps that allow users to create slideshows, such as Prezi and Google Slides, drawMD is the only one specific to medicine with readily available medical graphics. There are other patient educations that can be used to convey information, such as Simply Sayin’, which is a visual resource for communicating medical information with children.
