Disclaimer: Doximity is not an affiliate of Choosing Wisely and does not receive any compensation for this review.

Summary of app features: Produced by the ABIM foundation, this app serves to begin conversations between clinicians and their patients to decide on procedures that are necessary and appropriate. The app compiles patient-friendly resources and statistics about procedures so they are as informed before making a decision as possible. A clinician can walk through this app with their patient and have a discussion about whether a particular procedure is necessary and appropriate.

This app is useful for: any physician recommending procedures for patients. This app covers many medical specialties, including cardiology, clinical oncology, hematology, and primary medicine.

Good User Review: “The app seems like a great resource for patients to make smart decisions. It's a good step to empowering patients in such an immensely complicated subject. I like that the articles are searchable, but I'd also like to see them organized or grouped together somehow for browsing. Overall though, great app.” — CalifDude on the App Store

Limitations: This app’s layout and interface is fairly basic. For example, it currently does not support searches by keywords for procedures or diseases.

Alternatives: This app is unique because it is patient-accessible. However, there are also other clinical decision support apps for clinicians to use, such as Epocrates.

Download: free on the App Store or on Google Play.
